When you arrive home with your guinea pigs try not to make too much noise , they have very good hearing . They may be a little frightened and everything will be new . Their hutch should be 60 x 100 cm with wire mesh in the front and needs sleeping area like the one in the picture below . It will also need a sloping and opening water- proof roof . You can buy or make a grazing ark for your guinea pigs when the weather is fine . It should look like the one above Move the ark every day so your guinea pigs always have fresh grass to nibble . It should not open to far down otherwise they could escape .Just because they are eating grass it does not mean that the guinea pigs should not have their usual greens , mix and water .

The hutch should have :

large legs so cats and wild animals are unable to get in .

shelter from wind and rain .

good access and be in suitable location .

Your hutch should contain :

a thick heavy food bowl , with good quality mix in .

a water bottle with a metal dropper which let's out drips of water when a guinea pig sucks the end .

a gnawing log from an apple tree .

a handful of fresh treated hay .

plenty of straw in the sleeping quarters .

newspaper lining the floor .

You should also have a carrying box when taking them to the vets .
