Guinea pigs should have an indoor fun- run which are easy to make .

Here is a list of things that you can put in .

a clay pipe , wide enough for the guinea pigs to fit through .

cardboard box to hide in .

a platform with ramps on either side with rungs on to stop them slipping .

the usual mix , water, hay , straw , gnawing stick and greens .

If you watch your guinea pigs quietly you will soon see how they scamper about , giving little jumps when they are happy . They also make a variety of squeaks and chirrups :

Sound . Meaning . Purring . " I'm warm , sleepy and happy ."

Whistle . " Hello , have you brought my food ?"

Grunt . " Hi , I'm back ."

Gentle Squeak . "I'm happy ."

Loud , piercing screech . " HELP !"

Rattling ." What's going on ?"

Although they love playing , do not give them balls or squeaky toys etc. as these are very dangerous for guinea pigs .
